وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ لاَ تُفْسِدُواْ فِي الأَرْضِ قَالُواْ إِنَّمَا نَحْنُ مُصْلِحُونَ 
2.11. And when it is said unto them: Make not mischief in the earth, they say: We are peacemakers only.
2.11. Dan bila dikatakan kepada mereka:"Janganlah kamu membuat kerusakan di muka bumi". Mereka menjawab: "Sesungguhnya kami orang-orang yang mengadakan perbaikan."
أَلا إِنَّهُمْ هُمُ الْمُفْسِدُونَ وَلَـكِن لاَّ يَشْعُرُونَ
2.12. Are not they indeed the mischief makers? But they perceive not.
2.12. Ingatlah, sesungguhnya mereka itulah orang-orang yang membuat kerusakan, tetapi mereka tidak sadar.
وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ آمِنُواْ كَمَا آمَنَ النَّاسُ قَالُواْ أَنُؤْمِنُ كَمَا آمَنَ السُّفَهَاء أَلا إِنَّهُمْ هُمُ السُّفَهَاء وَلَـكِن لاَّ يَعْلَمُونَ
2.13. And when it is said unto them: Believe as the people believe, they say: Shall we believe as the foolish believe? Are not they indeed the foolish? But they know not.
2.13. Apabila dikatakan kepada mereka: "Berimanlah kamu sebagaimana orang-orang lain telah beriman." Mereka menjawab: "Akan berimankah kami sebagaimana orang-orang yang bodoh itu telah beriman?" Ingatlah, sesungguhnya merekalah orang-orang yang bodoh; tetapi mereka tidak tahu.
وَإِذَا لَقُواْ الَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ قَالُواْ آمَنَّا وَإِذَا خَلَوْاْ إِلَى شَيَاطِينِهِمْ قَالُواْ إِنَّا مَعَكْمْ إِنَّمَا نَحْنُ مُسْتَهْزِئُونَ
2.14. And when they fall in with those who believe, they say: We believe, but when they go apart to their devils they declare: Lo! we are with you, verily we did but mock.
2.14. Dan bila mereka berjumpa dengan orang-orang yang beriman, mereka mengatakan: "Kami telah beriman". Dan bila mereka kembali kepada syaitan-syaitan mereka, mereka mengatakan: "Sesungguhnya kami sependirian dengan kamu, kami hanyalah berolok-olok."
اللّهُ يَسْتَهْزِئُ بِهِمْ وَيَمُدُّهُمْ فِي طُغْيَانِهِمْ يَعْمَهُونَ
2.15. Allah (Himself) doth mock them, leaving them to wander blindly on in their contumacy.
2.15. Allah akan (membalas) olok-olokan mereka dan membiarkan mereka terombang-ambing dalam kesesatan mereka.
أُوْلَـئِكَ الَّذِينَ اشْتَرُوُاْ الضَّلاَلَةَ بِالْهُدَى فَمَا رَبِحَت تِّجَارَتُهُمْ وَمَا كَانُواْ مُهْتَدِينَ
2.16. These are they who purchase error at the price of guidance, so their commerce doth not prosper, neither are they guided.
2.16. Mereka itulah orang yang membeli kesesatan dengan petunjuk, maka tidaklah beruntung perniagaan mereka dan tidaklah mereka mendapat petunjuk.
مَثَلُهُمْ كَمَثَلِ الَّذِي اسْتَوْقَدَ نَاراً فَلَمَّا أَضَاءتْ مَا حَوْلَهُ ذَهَبَ اللّهُ بِنُورِهِمْ وَتَرَكَهُمْ فِي ظُلُمَاتٍ لاَّ يُبْصِرُونَ
2.17. Their likeness is as the likeness of one who kindleth fire, and when it sheddeth its light around him Allah taketh away their light and leaveth them in darkness, where they cannot see.
2.17. Perumpamaan mereka adalah seperti orang yang menyalakan api, maka setelah api itu menerangi sekelilingnya Allah hilangkan cahaya (yang menyinari) mereka, dan membiarkan mereka dalam kegelapan, tidak dapat melihat.
صُمٌّ بُكْمٌ عُمْيٌ فَهُمْ لاَ يَرْجِعُونَ
2.18. Deaf, dumb and blind, and they return not.
2.18. Mereka tuli, bisu dan buta, maka tidaklah mereka akan kembali (ke jalan yang benar).
أَوْ كَصَيِّبٍ مِّنَ السَّمَاءِ فِيهِ ظُلُمَاتٌ وَرَعْدٌ وَبَرْقٌ يَجْعَلُونَ أَصْابِعَهُمْ فِي آذَانِهِم مِّنَ الصَّوَاعِقِ حَذَرَ الْمَوْتِ واللّهُ مُحِيطٌ بِالْكافِرِينَ
2.19. Or like a rainstorm from the sky, wherein is darkness, thunder and the flash of lightning. They thrust their fingers in their ears by reason of the thunder-claps, for fear of dead Allah encompasseth the disbelievers (in His guidance).
2.19. atau seperti (orang-orang yang ditimpa) hujan lebat dari langit disertai gelap gulita, guruh dan kilat; mereka menyumbat telinganya dengan anak jarinya, karena (mendengar suara) petir, sebab takut akan mati. Dan Allah meliputi orang-orang yang kafir.
يَكَادُ الْبَرْقُ يَخْطَفُ أَبْصَارَهُمْ كُلَّمَا أَضَاء لَهُم مَّشَوْاْ فِيهِ وَإِذَا أَظْلَمَ عَلَيْهِمْ قَامُواْ وَلَوْ شَاء اللّهُ لَذَهَبَ بِسَمْعِهِمْ وَأَبْصَارِهِمْ إِنَّ اللَّه عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ
2.20. The lightning almost snatcheth away their sight from them. As often as it flasheth forth for them they walk therein, and when it darkeneth against them they stand still. If Allah willed, He could destroy their hearing and their sight Lo! Allah is Able to do all things.
2.20. Hampir-hampir kilat itu menyambar penglihatan mereka. Setiap kali kilat itu menyinari mereka, mereka berjalan di bawah sinar itu, dan bila gelap menimpa mereka, mereka berhenti. Jikalau Allah menghendaki, niscaya Dia melenyapkan pendengaran dan penglihatan mereka. Sesungguhnya Allah berkuasa atas segala sesuatu.
